Ngorongoro

Ngorongoro Park, protected by UNESCO, is one of the most interesting places on our planet. The crater with an area of 260 km2 is the largest natural zoo in the world. The crater was created roughly 2-3 million years ago, it is estimated that a volcano 4500 - 5800m high stood here. After the explosion, the volcano collapsed and a caldera was created, which today is home to an incredible number of animals and where you can still see the Big Five - huge elephants, rhinos, lions, buffaloes and leopards. The crater feeds two rivers that form two lakes. Alkaline Lake Magadi is only 1.5 m deep. Flamingos like to congregate here. Freshwater Lake Ngoitoktok is spring-fed and home to hippos.

Sample program:

One day is enough to visit Ngorongoro Park. An easy variant can be an early morning safari for the whole morning before departure to the Serengeti or to Arusha at the end of your safari program.
